The fictional Boilerplate is the world's first robot patterned after THE MECHANICAL MAN, authored by pulp writer Edward S. Ellis (STEAM MAN OF THE PRAIRIE, 1868).

BOILERPLATE is lavish, almost divine, in its portrayal of Boilerplate, a distinct fixture at all the major historical events since its invention by Archibald Campion in 1893. The mechanical superhero fought in and survived several wars, helped the world to progress with many social programs, only to mysteriously disappear during a ferocious battle in World War I, at the Meuse-Argonne offensive.
